About the OIMBL
Welcome to the Ottawa Intermediate Mens' Basketball League (OIMBL). The OIMBL is a not-for-profit competitive league that has been operating in the Ottawa since the 1990's. The league traditionally runs on Sundays at the Algonquin College.
The OIMBL season is played over a 20 to 22 week schedule (depending on gym availability)and is based on a "division system". Depending on registration, there can be up to 3 division. Playoffs involving all teams are held at the end of the season, with playoff seeding based on team rankings over the course of the season. All regular season and play-off matches are refereed by the Ottawa Valley Board of Approved Basketball Officials(OVBABO).
Registration for the season (which runs from Ocyober to March) is held in August of each year and is conducted through the OIMBL website. League fees include regular season and playoff play. The OIMBL accepts team registrations only. However, it also maintains and updates a "Spares List" of individual players looking for teams, which is located in a secure area on our website. If you wish to register as a spare, you may do so by using the registration form. Registering as a spare does not automatically guarantee inclusion onto a team; it does however provide team captains with a list of potential players that they may call upon over the course of the season.
The above information covers many of the more frequently asked questions pertaining to the league. Should you require additional or more specific information please contact us or refer to the OIMBL Constitution.
